Itinerary
DAY 1:
CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA – HUMANTAY LAKE
DAY 1:
CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA – HUMANTAY LAKEDay one of the Salkantay Trek, the 4-day one, we’re picking you up early, between 4:30 am and 5:00 am. Gotta get going early, yeah? It’s about a 2-hour drive to Mollepata . We stop there for breakfast, get some food in you.
Then we carry on driving to Challacancha (3800 masl/ 12457 ft). This is the place where we are going to start hiking, Challacancha. We’ll hike for roughly 3 hours to Soraypampa base camp, it’s at 3,900 m.a.s.l (12,800 ft.). Lunch there, something good to eat.
After lunch, we go towards the famous Humantay Lagoon (4,220 m / 13,850 ft). About a 1.5-hour walk, and honestly, the views are something else. Landscapes are, like, full-on, lots of colors, depending on the time of year, mind.
You’ll see green valleys, loads of plants, and mad views of the Humantay and Salkantay Andes mountains. Local guide will tell you bits about the history and interesting stuff. Plus, you get time to have a look around by yourself, check the place out. Then we walk back down to Soraypampa base camp. Hot coca tea when you get back and then dinner cooked up by the cooks.
DAY 2:
SORAYMAPA – SALKANTAY PASS – COLLPAPAMPA
DAY 2:
SORAYMAPA – SALKANTAY PASS – COLLPAPAMPARight, at 5:00 am we wake up with gentle service offering you a coca te and they our breakfast again. Need plenty of energy for today’s hike. Starting from Soraypampa, we’re hiking uphill for 3 hours to the highest point, Abra Salkantay. Views up there are amazing, proper views of the snow-covered high Andes Mountains, including Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay, and Pumasillo (4,650 m.a.s.l / 15,250 feet).
during the uphill we past Salkantaypampa then Soyrococha in this spot we see a little lake to finally arrive to the salkantay pass Then we start going down towards Wacracmachay (3,800 m.a.s.l / 12,470 feet).
That downhill is about 3 hours. Lunch at Wacracmachay. Still going downhill for another 3 hours by the beatifull valley which is the beginning of the amazon rainforest until we get to our campsite in Collpapampa. Tea and dinner waiting cooked by the cook. Tonight sleep in comfy domes at the campsite.

DAY 3:
COLLPAPAMPA – LUCMABAMBA – HIDROELÉCTRICA - AGUAS CALIENTES
DAY 3:
COLLPAPAMPA – LUCMABAMBA – HIDROELÉCTRICA - AGUAS CALIENTESAfter a good night sleep and a decent breakfast, day 3 of the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu kicks off. We start a 5-and-a-half-hours hike through the Peruvian jungle, lots of up and down bits. This part of the trek, we’re in cloud forest, you’ll see coffee plants, banana and avocado trees, orchids, and loads of native plants used for medicine.
We get to lunch spot to have a break and the coffe tour, then after lunch, we get transport to Hidroelectrica. From Hidroelectrica we walk next to the train tracks for roughly 3 hours to get to Aguas Calientes, this hik is really nice because you are going to see machupicchu surrounded by mountains like machupicchu and huaynapicchu. When we get to Aguas Calientes, dinner at a local place in town, at the bottom of Machu Picchu. Hotel in Aguas Calientes for the night.

DAY 4:
MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
DAY 4:
MACHU PICCHU – CUSCOWe’re up early to visit Machu Picchu. The Lost City of the Incas, Rediscovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham in one of his expeditions, apparently. We’ll do a guided tour, have a look at the neighborhoods, plazas, terraces, and where they watched the stars, astronomical observatories. After the tour, you’ve got free time to take photos, wander around yourself, explore the site.
If you’re up for climbing Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you do that at set times, either 6 to 8 am or 9 to 11 am, depending on your ticket.
Afternoon time, we go back to Aguas Calientes for lunch (lunch not included in the price, remember). Then we get the train back to Ollantaytambo. On the train, you see views of the Sacred Valley not recomended sleep in the train. When we get to Ollantaytambo, transport will drop you off at San Francisco Square in Cusco.

- Night 2 (Colpapampa): Private sleeping domes, for 2 people again.
- Night 3 (Aguas Calientes): Decent 2-star hotel, safe, clean, with Wi-Fi, private bathroom with hot water, and breakfast to take away. You can pay extra to upgrade to a better hotel if you want.
